Writing inspiration: Who inspired me

I like reading books more than watching movies because then I have the power to imagine heroes and scenes exactly the way I want. Each of us can then become a director for a movie that only you see in your head. As I was writing “Falling” I was also watching a movie in my mind and I fell in love with it with all my heart. But I don’t want to take all the credit for this story. My mind created it with the unconscious help of some public persons who inspire a lot of people around the world. So, I would like to mention them and thank them for all the inspiration they unintentionally gave me. Although I’m pretty sure none of them will watch this video, but it doesn’t matter.

I’ll start with the main male character Leo. I imagined him to be exactly the same as the gorgeous Australian actor Liam Hemsworth. I didn’t even bother to change his name too much.
The manager Sam’s character I imagined as the one and only, glorious Matthew McConaughey. All about Sam in my mind is Matthew McConaughey. His appearance, his voice, the way he talks, how he moves … For me, that’s him.

Jelena and the other characters are imagined in my own way, I did not connect them with famous actors. Except for one more character who does not appear often in this part of the book, but has a very important role. That is Leo’s sister Emily. I imagined her as Elsa Pataky. You can guess how it happened. While searching for pictures of Liam on the internet so I could better imagine him I came across a picture of his beautiful sister-in-law and that was it. She fit Emily’s character perfectly.

As I mentioned earlier, I have two kids aged 6 and 4. It would be impossible to write a book with the two of them without headphones and loud music. So, all the time I was writing I was listening to music. And it was those songs and the musicians who performed them that inspired the creation of many pages in this book. The way I love these musicians and how much I admire them all is unspeakable. But in this video I will just list them:

Imagine Dragons (I just have to add for them that Dan who appears in the backstage in Chapter 6 in the second part, is imagined as Dan Reynolds), Coldplay, One Republic, and Sia. I also listened a lot to Boyce Avenue and Jennel Garcia and their great covers for many of the songs I adore.

So, I want to say a big thank you to all these great people who inadvertently gave me so much inspiration. I wish them all good luck with all my heart, and to continue to inspire people around the world for many, many years to come.
